7 Differences between Waste Disposal and Junk Disposal

When we hear the words “waste” and “junk”, maximum of us imagine the same picture of products that are non-usable, broken, old or smelly. Most of us fail to recognise that, although products categorised under these words are for throwing away, they are actually two different terms meant for two different types of unwanted items. Thus, today we are going to differentiate the difference between waste disposal and junk disposal for better understanding as well as effective management of both.

1. Texture:

Waste disposal are those unwanted products which are generally organic in nature and results from kitchens, bathrooms and etc. – food, paper, clothes and other similar leftovers. On the other hand junk disposal are those which are not necessarily be organic in nature and most often comes from hazardous household stuff – old furniture, glass clippings, electrical items and other things which falls in this category.

2. Size:

Waste disposal are day to day garbage and are hence small in size that are easily collectable. Whereas junk disposal need more space as they are heavy and bigger in size. They are most of the time, results from renovation or construction work.

3. Safety:

When waste disposal is dumped in and around residential areas, it will gradually become the best place for germs and bacteria to thrive along with attracting annoying animals such as rodents, ants, termites, rats and other insects. This can further create disturbances among the residents, when these animals and insects starts entering properties as well. When it comes to junk disposals, they will most of the time be not the center of attraction for harmful insects and animals but will for sure can cause bodily harm. For example, a broken piece of glass or furniture can cut the toe of a passerby if care is not taken to dispose at the allotted location.

4. Hygiene:

Since waste disposal is organic in nature, they will start to decay within two – three days of throwing away. So, if they are disposed near residential areas, the decomposing process will release a foul smell, polluting the complete area. Although junk disposal don’t pose much of sanitary issue, wet cardboards and food containers can welcome mold and fungus.

5. Throwing Away:

Getting rid of waste disposal is not a tough task. Since they are produced by every house, on a daily basis, local government agencies only take care of throwing them away in the designated area. Homeowners simply need to collect them in a garbage bag and keep them near the door or at the allotted place for pickups. But disposing junk needs more time and attention. They neither can be dumped in all types of landfills nor can be left unattended. The homeowner have to contact bin rental companies to manage it.

6. Reprocess:

While waste disposal can’t be reused, certain junk disposals such as old furniture and appliances are sent for reprocessing.

7. Expenditure:

Since waste disposal is easily manageable, expenditure is less. Whereas rental bin companies charge a bit more, as they have to deal with heavy and bigger products.
